I — The manifesto
We are not here to make more. We are here to make it right: cloth with weight, cut by hand, made in small numbers and never made again. When a piece is gone, it is gone. That is the point.
— The house of SMOOCH
II — Five tenets
The rules of the house.
- I
Weight over want
We choose cloth by how it sits in the hand. Nothing we cut is light, flimsy or quick.
- II
Few, not many
Every run is small and numbered. When the numbers are gone, the run is closed.
- III
Never twice
A pattern is used once, then retired. We do not reprint, restock or repeat.
- IV
Made to be kept
Bound seams, turned hems, buttons sewn to stay. Clothes for years, not for seasons.
- V
Quiet, always
No loud logos. You will know it by the way it falls.
III — The cutting table
Before cloth, there is paper.
Every piece begins as a drawing: a few lines, a notch, an arrow for the grain, traced by hand on the cutting table. Only then do the shears come out.
What the pieces become stays on the table until 30 · XI · 2026.
IV — The list
The first edition goes to the list.
One letter, the night before the doors open: the hour, the address, and a first look at what the house has made. Nothing else, ever.
